One of the biggest cultural festivals in Singapore is the Chingay Parade. The Chingay Parade is an annual street parade held in Malaysia and Singapore in celebration with the birthdays of the Chinese deities or the procession of the Goddess of Mercy as part of the Chinese New Year festivities.
One of the regular contingents is Indonesia. Indonesia has been participating in Chingay Parade for years. And this year, 200 performers from various regions in Indonesia and the Singapore Indonesian School participated in this year’s Chingay that held at Singapore F1 Pit on 31 January – 1 February 2020.
As the biggest contingent, the Indonesian team performed dances with the theme of Harmony of the Archipelago with the message that even though it consisted of a variety of cultures and ethnicities, Indonesia was still one big unity. This theme is also in accordance with this year’s Chingay Parade theme, Colors in Harmony
Here is a close up look on the contingent of Indonesia at Chingay Parade this year. Remarkable and fantastic detail on the costumes.
